Black CURRANT
Black currant (Ribes nigrum) is a black woody shrub in the family Grossulariaceae grown for its piquant berries. They contain high levels of tannins, anthocyanins, polyphenolic substances, vitamin C, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), along with vitamin A, B1, B5, B6, and E. They are eaten fresh, but also are good as a pastry filling, bakery, jams, jellies, smoothies, ciders, and dried fruits.
